Background

Sean is a Partner in the Dubai Office and leads the firm’s Construction and Infrastructure Disputes practice.

Sean has over 16 years’ experience of complex, large-scale construction, engineering and infrastructure disputes. He has been based in the UAE since 2015, and in that time has acted for clients on some of the most high-profile disputes in the Middle East, including in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq.

Sean has extensive arbitration experience, having advised on proceedings under the ICC, LCIA, DIAC, DIFC-LCIA, SIAC and ADCCAC rules, and has also undertaken advocacy in arbitration proceedings. As well as his arbitration experience, Sean has acted for clients in expert determination, mediation, adjudication and litigation, including in the DIFC Courts, and the English High Court. He also has experience of local GCC litigation.

Sean’s practice includes advising and representing clients across the construction industry, including those in the power and water, oil and gas, transport, infrastructure, and healthcare sectors. He has advised on complex claims arising under a range of bespoke and standard form contracts, as well as other forms of contract used in the industry, including offtake agreements and production sharing contracts. In addition, he has advised clients in relation to breach of warranty claims arising out of contracts to purchase significant infrastructure assets.
